Why I Bike for Bernie
In honor of my grandfather, Bernie (“Papa”), I am participating in the Tour de Millburn Bike Event as part of my Mitzvah project.
Papa loved biking and was the one who taught me how to ride. Sadly, he passed away late last year from an aortic dissection. I’m biking to honor his memory and to raise awareness for thoracic and aortic aneurysms and dissections—serious conditions that are often overlooked but can be fatal if not detected early.
Through this fundraiser, I am supporting the John Ritter Foundation, which advances research and provides education to help save lives.
Thank you for supporting my ride, my mitzvah project, and most of all, Papa’s legacy. ????
About The John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health
The John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health (JRF) was established in 2003 by Amy Yasbeck in honor of her late husband, actor John Ritter, who died unexpectedly from an undiagnosed thoracic aortic dissection. The foundation is dedicated to saving lives through genetic research, widespread education, and advocacy aimed at the prevention, identification, and treatment of thoracic aortic disease. Through initiatives like The Ritter Rules and funding innovative research, JRF empowers patients, families, and medical professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to reduce the devastating impact of aortic dissections worldwide.
